This cafe in Earlwood has been here a while but we haven’t visited before so we thought a visit was long overdue!
I will admit, I was a little perturbed when I walked in to find a very small space with a big table in the middle and even though it was packed with yummy food in all directions I did think to myself “How are we going to fit two adults and 3 kids in here?!”. Luckily the friendly staff behind the DELI counter sent me next door to the CAFE!
And what a great cafe it is… a beautiful space in the front of the shop faces the street, BUT there’s a wonderfully, inviting outdoor area behind too. Both spaces are different but really lovely, dark wood, large tables, comfy chairs … awesome!
It was an outing for the big kids on this particular day so no need for high chairs or pram space but there was both readily available, together with some blankets (for you not the floor!) and a toy basket. The menu is really good, so good in fact we had trouble deciding! In terms of kids, there’s no seperate kids menu but many items on the menu are suitable for kids and a few food and drink items are served in a kids size also.
We ordered Blueberry & Buttermilk Pancakes in the kids size ($10) and they were very well received! They come with maple syrup and palm sugar butter, the Leg Ham, Cheese and Tomato Toasted Sandwich ($8.50) was great also, served on lovely crusty bread. We also ordered the Grilled Chicken salad with Asian Slaw, Cherry Tomatoes, Avocado with a Sweet Soy Dressing ($22) it was wonderfully fresh and tasty and a pretty healthy option. The Pulled Pork Toasted Sandwich is packed with Coleslaw and Chilli Sauce ($12.50) and served on crusty bread, it was delicious and had a bit of a bite!
The drinks menu is extensive too, old-fashioned milkshakes (served in the silver cup!), smoothies, tea and wonderful coffee among other things!
The Woods is a wonderful spot to try if you haven’t already. The staff were great and great with the kids too. The outdoor area is excellent for kids as they have a bit of room to move, there’s plenty of space for a pram or two also. Parking is easy on William Street.
