Saint Mary MacKillop Reserve, Canterbury
A wonderful park in Canterbury with a brand new playground which includes some all-abilities equipment.
Saint Mary MacKillop Reserve is located on the banks of the Cooks River.
The playground in Saint Mary MacKillop Reserve has been recently replaced and they’ve done a wonderful job! The new playground includes some really unique pieces of equipment that is suitable for kids of all-abilities.
The equipment includes swings, monkey bars, a rock-climbing “cube” structure, a large rocking “chair” which can accept a wheelchair and a very cool rope tunnel climbing net.
The playground area is beautifully landscaped and located at the eastern end of the park (the far end away from Canterbury Road). The path along the Cooks River is perfect for walking, scootering or pushing a pram and while it’s on the opposite side of the Cooks River to the Cooks River Cycleway, it is still a great biking option, especially with kids.
The entire playground is under a couple of huge shade sails and set over rubber soft-fall. There’s plenty of easy parking on Berna Street.
