The Little Cup and Saucer, Canterbury

A relatively new addition to the suburb, this delightful cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. They have a wonderful menu and their children’s menu is small but has excellent options. Kids are well catered for with very friendly staff and a simple but very well thought out kids menu.

Stop in for a takeaway coffee on your walk around the neighbourhood, meet your mothers group for breakfast or catch up with friends over lunch. There’s plenty of room for a few prams and babycino’s are free with a tea or coffee.

We have been lucky enough to visit The Little Cup and Saucer twice in the last few weeks and we’ll be visiting again soon! We did breakfast both times and everything we’ve tried has been fresh, delicious and so moreish.

Firstly, visiting with kids is a breeze, the water cups are melamine in a variety of gorgeous patterns, just like the ones we have at home so no breakage dramas there! There are high chairs and a couple of very attractive kids menu options for each meal. The cafe is pretty new and has a wonderful fitout, it’s funky, modern and clean with a really warm atmosphere. There’s lots of exposed brick, exposed beams, mixed with gorgeous tiles and timber. There are tables for 2, 4 or a large group tabel at the back of the cafe.

Breakfast is served until 11.30am and has so many delicious options it can be hard to make a choice! We had the Granola Yoghurt Pot ($10), Avocado Smash with a poached egg on the side ($15+$2) and the Mixed Wild Mushroom Bruschetta ($15) and for the little person Funfetti Pancakes with Nutella and sliced Banana ($8). The food is delicious, everything is made and baked in-house and where possible they use local suppliers, freshness guaranteed and you could taste it! The Wild Mushroom Bruschetta is served on a piece of sourdough, spread with goats cheese and it is a taste sensation! The Avocado Smash is served with marinated feta, cherry tomatoes, grilled corn and spiced quinoa dukkha, it was such a yummy combination, tasty and full of flavour! Kids pancakes are always a hit in this house so everyone was happy!

If you’re after a quick take-away, they’ll do you a Bacon & Egg Roll with a coffee for $10.

All in all we were very impressed, the food was some of the best we’ve tried of late but what also impressed us were the prices. They are really reasonable which was a pleasant surprise, nothing on the breakfast menu was over $18 and most options are around $15. Kids breakfast for $8 is also very reasonable.

Lunch is served from Midday and while we haven’t had lunch there yet, we will be soon! The menu looks just as delicious and includes a Grilled Chicken and Kale Caesar Salad ($15.50), Pulled Pork Cobb Salad ($16) and a Hot Rueben Sandwich with homemade sauerkraut and dressing ($16). Kids options include a Cheeseburger with fries and a juice ($10) and Crumbed Chicken Fingers with fries and a juice ($10).

They have a wonderful drinks menu too, the coffee is excellent and we can vouch for the Iced Nutella Coffee ($7) a serious treat on a warm day!

We can’t rate this cafe highly enough, warm, friendly with fresh, delicious food all served quickly and with a huge smile.
